LIM - week 21 - sketch card no 2

Card No 2 an easel card. Again I used my little daisy punch, this time punched 3 layers and added a punched out hole for the centre.
Crealies die for the leaves. I found a frame which originally had nine appetures so I cut it down to use three and painted it red. The card is black linen texture.

Now I'm off to soak up the sunshine.

Less is More Challenge - Week 21 - Sketch

I have been playing around this week making flowers, also taking photos of the garden and hit on the idea of water lillies as ours in our little pond are gorgeous.
I dug out my punches (note to self - use more often) the base of the lily is an EK Success punch - Cut 1 in green and 3 in pink, used my scoring tool and curled each one, the middle is a smaller daisy type punch (don't know what its called) cut 3 in yellow and cupped each one and added a small gold gem. The strip is a Martha Stewart Punch deep edge punch of leaves.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, its supposed to be HOT here on Sunday might be time for my second dip in the pool. Fingers crossed.

Less is more Challenge - week 20 - Monograms

I'm late doing this as we have had no power for 24 hrs. We had violent storms with terrific winds on Friday and at 5 o'clock off went the electric. It came back on briefly and went off again then we had to wait until 10 o'clock last night before they came to repair it. The main line across our adjoining field had completly broken and was dangling in the wind. A couple of years ago the same line shorted out when a couple of starlings got amourous on it and it set the field on fire. Unfortunately it killed both the birds as well.

We did spend most of Thursday afternoon (supposed to be strimming) watching a family of 4 hares. Mummy, Daddy and two babies. They were huge. Managed to get a few pics. I will put one on later.

My card this week is for my friend Irene whose birthday is in November. Its another font one. This time the font is Bloomster and each letter has a daisy flower on it. I used Microsoft word and changed the colour and size to 200 and copied and pasted it into Publisher. I have adorned it with pink flat backed pearls.

Enjoy the rest of your day I am off to supervise the inside painting of the cabin up by the swimming pool. My guests arrive early July so must have it spick and span.

Hope you like it.

Less is More Challenge - Week 19 - In the Frame

Good Morning from the Loire. A mix week weather wise but today is gorgeous sunshine. Our family of Black Redstarts have finally flown and now we are waiting for the House Sparrow family to go having taken up residence in the blue tits box. Its an old log the woodpeckers had made a hole in. Robin (my husband) cut it into sections and made a lid and a bottom. The blue tits nested there last year and also this year so its being well used. Perhaps we should put a "To Let" sign on it.
My entry for this week was generated on the computer. Its actually a font frame I downloaded called Darrian Frames. This is the letter M. I made it larger in Word then copy and pasted it into publisher and sized it to fit the page. I printed it onto watercoloured card and used my watercoloured pens to colour in. Very simply but I like it.

Have a good day.

LIM week 18 - Card No 2

Another Black and White Card. This time it is Marianne Creatable Die of the Butterfly. I cut the first one out and luckily it did not cut very well so I left it whole and the black one I cut completely. Took several attempts as I think the card was a bit thick. I have only stuck it down the middle body bit on the white one and the black one is stuck with tiny black foam pads. Forgotten I have them and they were just what I was looking for. Finished off with a few white gems. Apparently Black and White butterflies are called Marble Whites. We had a lot here one year and my son Paul took loads of pictures, he converted one photo in a software programme (he does that sort of thing for a job along with designing web sites) and my daughter-in-law Claire cross stitched it for me for a Xmas present. Its very effective.

Less is More Challenge - Week 18 - Monochrome

Another glorious morning here in the Loire. Thank you all for the lovely comments on last weeks card.

Had to be Black and White for me this week. Inspired by "The Swallow Family" The swallows have nested in my neighbours garage as they do every year. Mr and Mrs Swallow have reared 5 babies and yesterday afternoon they bought them all over and settled them down on our Banana Plant on the edge of the swimming pool to feed them all. What a sight swooping and gliding overhead. The parents even came down to drink from the swimming pool water. Good job there are a lot of insects for a family of that size. We've even got Black Redstarts again nesting in an old baked bean tin lodged between the beams in the barn.

Back to my cards, I used Black Linen Card, White Hammered and silver Mirror for the one. Marianne Die cut Lady and white peel off. Tiny black feather and 3 tiny black gems.

The white card is hammered, silver holographic card, white feather and 3 tiny black gems.

Off to the garden now to assist in the chopping down of a huge Yucca which is past its sell -by-date.
